Father-daughter-thoughts
Dear daughter,
You’re about to leave our house very soon. After almost 18 years this is going to be a great change – I guess for all of us. Our discussions were so inspiring – even though they sometimes hurt. Especially when we realized that we are getting older, hiding behind arguments from our “treasure trove” of experience, lacking an unbiased and fresh view on things. So, this kind of argument feels like delaying our “mental ageing”, which – in today’s mainstream mood – seems to be the ultimate goal (opposing the experience valuing approach of earlier times). Since your parents are gregarious animals we would like to keep this fountain of youth. That’s why I thought about starting an online way of keeping up our exchange of ideas. What do you think?
Dear father,
Am I going to move out that soon? How fast time passes. Gosh, I already start to talk like you elderly people. I don’t feel ready for all the challenges that are going to come up, but I’m confident I am going to manage many of them. But it will be a challenge for you as well. No one to punish for not taking the trash outside or even more times unloading the dishwasher. I have to admit it wasn’t only that, I’ve optimised my way of loading the dishwasher and learned a lot in the countless arguments, conversations and what else there was.
So, yes, why not keeping up your monologues and my little teasing sometimes. Online is a good idea too. A blog. By the way, judged by the number of your friends, you are not gregarious animals, as you call it, but lone wolfs.
